Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:
  • A Shopify store (any plan)
  • Admin access to your store
  • Access to your theme editor
You don’t need any coding knowledge or technical expertise. Genlook works with any Shopify theme and requires no custom code.

Installation

1

Install from the App Store

Visit the Genlook app page on the Shopify App Store and click Add app. Review the permissions and click Install app to proceed.
Genlook requires access to your products, theme files, and customer data to function properly. All data is handled securely and in compliance with Shopify’s privacy standards.
2

Complete initial setup

After installation, you’ll be taken through a quick setup wizard:
  • Choose your plan - Start with a free trial to test Genlook
  • Review pricing - Select the plan that matches your store’s needs
  • Configure basic settings - Set your preferred language and default widget style
You can change these settings later in the Genlook admin panel. Don’t worry about getting everything perfect right away.
3

Add widget to your theme

Navigate to Online Store > Themes in your Shopify admin, then click Customize on your active theme.
  1. Go to a product page template
  2. Click Add block or Add section
  3. Find Genlook Virtual Try-On in the list
  4. Add it to your product page layout
  5. Position it where you want (typically near the “Add to cart” button)
Make sure you’re editing the product page template, not a collection or homepage template. The widget only works on product pages.
4

Enable products or collections

Go back to the Genlook app admin panel and navigate to Products or Collections.
  • Collections (recommended): Enable entire collections at once - fastest setup
  • Products: Enable individual products for more granular control
Most merchants use collections since it’s faster and easier to manage.
Start by enabling one collection or a few products to test. Once you’re happy with how it works, enable more products.
5

Test your setup

Visit one of your enabled product pages on your live store (not in the theme editor). You should see the Genlook try-on button.
  1. Click the button to open the widget
  2. Upload a test photo or use the camera option
  3. Wait for the AI to generate the try-on image
  4. Verify the result looks good
If you see the try-on button and can generate an image, your setup is complete! You can now publish your theme changes and start using Genlook.

Customizing Your Widget

After installation, you can customize the widget appearance:
  • Button color - Match your brand colors
  • Button text - Change the default “Try it on” text
  • Button position - Adjust where it appears on product pages
  • Widget size - Control how large the widget appears when opened
These settings are available in the Genlook admin panel under Widget Settings.
Keep your button text clear and action-oriented. “Try it on” or “See how it looks” work well. Avoid generic text like “Click here.”
