FAQ
Common questions and troubleshooting tips for Genlook.
General Questions
How does Genlook work?
Genlook uses advanced Generative AI (Google Gemini models) to create realistic images of customers wearing your products. It analyzes the garment's structure and the user's body shape to warp and blend the clothing naturally.
What types of clothing work best?
Genlook is optimized for:
- ✅ Dresses
- ✅ Tops, blouses, and t-shirts
- ✅ Jackets and outerwear
- ✅ Footwear (Shoes, Sneakers)
- ✅ Eyewear (Glasses, Sunglasses)
Note: It works best with standard cuts. Very complex accessories or unusual shapes may have variable results.
Is there a free plan?
Yes! The Starter Plan is very affordable ($9/m), but we also offer a free trial period so you can test the technology on your store before committing.
Pricing & Billing
How do I upgrade?
You can upgrade directly from the Plans tab in the Genlook dashboard. Billing is handled securely through Shopify.
What are "Generations"?
A "generation" is counted each time a user (or you in the Studio) successfully creates a new try-on image. If the generation fails, it is not counted.
What happens if I exceed my plan limit?
If you're on a plan that supports overage (like Growth or Pro), your customers can continue using the feature, and you will be charged a small fee per additional generation at the end of the billing cycle.
Troubleshooting
The generated image is rotated or cropped wrong
We have built-in auto-crop and rotation correction. However, if a user uploads a photo with incorrect EXIF data (common in some older phones), it might appear rotated. Solution: Ask the user to try a different photo, preferably a standard "mirror selfie" or portrait mode photo.
The clothes look "flat" or distorted
This usually happens if:
- The user's body pose is difficult (e.g., sitting down, arms crossed).
- The user is wearing loose/baggy clothing in their original photo. Tip: Recommend users wear tighter clothing and stand straight for the best "fitting" experience.
Why isn't the try-on button showing?
- Product Status: Ensure the product is "Active" in Shopify and enabled in the Genlook dashboard.
- App Embed: Verify that the Genlook App Embed is toggled ON in your Theme Editor.
- Cache: Clear your browser cache or check in an Incognito window.
Privacy & Security
What happens to customer photos?
Customer privacy is paramount.

- They are processed solely for the generation.
- They are automatically deleted after 7 days (or sooner).
- We do not use customer photos to train our public models.
Is Genlook GDPR compliant?
Yes. We minimize data retention and provide tools for data deletion.
