Genlook lives in your theme as two pieces:
  • The Genlook Try-On app embed loads Genlook on your store. Nothing works without it.
  • The Genlook Try-On Button block shows the button on product pages, and is where you style it.
The app’s onboarding walks you through both and checks them off automatically. This page is the same steps in detail.

Install the app

Install GenLook: AI Virtual Try On from the Shopify App Store and approve the permissions.

Turn on the app embed

In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes and click Customize. Open App embeds in the left sidebar and toggle on Genlook Try-On.

Add the button to your product template

Open a Products template from the dropdown at the top of the theme editor. In the product information section, click Add block and select Genlook Try-On Button. Drag it right above or below Add to cart, where it gets the most clicks.

Save and test

Click Save. If your store has several product templates, repeat step 3 for each. Then enable your products in the Genlook app and run a try-on on your storefront.

Canvas themes

Themes designed with Shopify Canvas cannot turn on app embeds yet, so Genlook Try-On does not appear under App embeds. Follow the Canvas themes guide instead.

Vintage themes

Older Shopify 1.0 themes do not support app blocks, so Genlook Try-On Button will not appear in the block list. Turn on the app embed as above, then place the button yourself:
  1. In the theme editor, add a Custom Liquid block to your product page. If your theme has none, go to Themes > … > Edit code and open your product template (often sections/product-template.liquid) instead.
  2. Paste this right below the Add to cart button, then save:
The app embed handles the rest: it hides this button on products where try-on is off, and opens the try-on widget on click. The btn class gives it your theme’s button style; swap it for your theme’s own button class if it looks off. More options in the custom button guide.
