Genlook Virtual Try-On lets shoppers see how your clothing looks on them before they buy. They upload a photo or take a selfie, and the AI renders a realistic try-on image, usually in 10 to 20 seconds. The result: shoppers who try on convert more often and return less. Genlook is a native Shopify app. There is no code to write and nothing to host. Install it, add the button to your theme, choose which products to enable, and you are live.

Set up in three steps

1

Install the app

Install Genlook from the Shopify App Store and approve the requested permissions.
2

Add the try-on button to your theme

Enable the Genlook Try-On app embed and add the Genlook Try-On Button block to your product page template. The widget setup guide walks through both, including every styling option.
3

Enable products and launch

In the Genlook app, open Manage and turn on try-on for specific products, whole collections, or your entire catalog. Then open an enabled product on your storefront, run a try-on yourself, and you are done.
Most merchants go from install to a live try-on button in under 10 minutes. If your theme is an older Shopify 1.0 (vintage) theme, follow the vintage theme guide instead.

How it works for your shoppers

  1. They tap the try-on button on a product page and upload a photo or take a selfie.
  2. The AI generates the try-on, blending their photo with your product imagery. Most results are ready in 10 to 20 seconds.
  3. They see themselves wearing the product, can try other items, save the image, or share it.
  4. They add to cart with far more confidence than a flat product photo can give them.
The widget is fully whitelabel: your shoppers see your brand, your colors, and your copy.

Beyond the product page

In-store QR codes

Generate a standalone try-on link and QR code per product. Shoppers in your physical store scan and try on before queueing for a fitting room.

Email & CRM integrations

Collect emails in the try-on flow and sync shoppers to Klaviyo or a Shopify customer segment for retargeting.

Custom button

Keep Genlook’s try-on modal but design your own button in Liquid. One JavaScript call: Genlook.cabin.open().

Fully custom flow

Build your own try-on UI on top of the widget API. For developers who want full control of the experience.

Common questions

The short version: upper and full-body apparel works best, the widget has no impact on page speed because it loads asynchronously, mobile is fully supported including the camera, and pricing scales with your monthly try-on volume (see the App Store listing for current plans). For the full list, see the FAQ. If something is not working, start with troubleshooting.
